Accomplishments

As your Councilwoman, I have accomplished the following:

  • Passed a balanced budget for fiscal year 2015
  • Opened the Bay Shore Public Library on Sundays (starting Feb 22nd)
  • Studied urban wildlife in our neighborhoods
  • Dedicated $350,000 to the Long Beach Police Department to target residential burglaries
  • Approved new smart parking meters for Belmont Shore
  • Continued the stabilization and restoration of our Bluff
  • Co-sponsoring a mandatory spay/neuter ordinance
  • Held an Anti-Bullying workshop for our youth
  • Demolished the Belmont Plaza pool
  • Finalized plans to rebuild a new state of the art aquatic facility
  • First district to start street repaving and sidewalk repairs for fiscal year 2015
  • Reduced the speed limit on Colorado Street in Belmont Heights
  • Started construction on a new beach pedestrian path
  • Created a citywide business friendly growth and retention incentive program
  • Planted additional parkway trees in University Park Estates
  • Partnered with Cub Scout Pack 007 to landscape the Marine Stadium parking lot
  • Started the rebuild of Phase I of the Naples Seawall project
  • Hosted a small business workshop
  • Added two new crosswalks on Eliot Street through Marina Vista Park in order to increase safety for our pedestrians and bicyclists

A few exciting projects I am working on:

  • Redevelopment of Pacific Electric Right of Way (PEROW) in Belmont Heights
  • Establishing 100 NEW community watch groups by July 2015
  • Updating the Belmont Shore parking study
  • Updating the Southeast Area Development Improvement Plan (SEADIP)
  • The Alamitos Bay Marina rebuild
  • Phase two of the Colorado Lagoon restoration project
  • As Vice Chair of the Los Cerritos Wetland Authority I am currently working with relevant stakeholders to improve pedestrian access to our wetlands
  • Adding a pop-up educational center for visitors of the wetlands
  • Working to create a Senior Center in the Third District
  • Hosting a family fun spring BBQ and concert
  • Hosting a Cyber Bullying workshop for our youth
  • Hosting a “Touch-a-Truck” event
  • Hosting a residential and property safety fair
